Sarah's Tent

Eva Bibas' multimedia interactive installation is constructed with a metal frame, fabrics, a central sculptural-painting object, sand, flour, and a live-feed projection. The tent, measuring 14 x 12 x 8 feet, holds an art object (5 x 3.5 feet) placed on the ground atop sand and flour at its center. Visitors enter Sarah’s Tent and encounter this art object, with their interactions projected onto the roof, merging their presence with the installation.

In Sarah's Tent, Bibas welcomes viewers to engage with core elements of her artistic practice, process, research, and identity. This immersive experience alludes to the biblical Sarah’s tent, where hospitality and the act of receiving guests were central. Through their interactions with the work, viewers become active participants, altering the piece and gaining a meditative space for self-reflection. Bibas uses symbols, textures, lighting, and sound to guide this introspective process.

The installation seeks to connect physical actions and ritual with spirituality. This is conveyed through the projection of people’s interactions with the art object (positioned in the ground) onto the roof of the tent, thereby bridging ground and Heaven. Sarah’s Tent suggests that our actions, however small, impact the world, captured in the phrase "un granito de arena a la vez" (a grain of sand at a time).
