Seven Heavens Series 2
Eva Bibas' work centers on symbols from the "Bread of the Seven Heavens," Jewish mysticism, and Hebrew letters, seen by kabbalists as Divinity’s building blocks. This mythology shapes her family’s awareness of culture and identity as part of an exiled people. Through primal shapes inspired by these symbols and interstitial forms created by Hebrew letters, she explores the universe’s ineffable nature. Overlapping textures in diverse media evoke history, land, and time, uniting visible and hidden layers to suggest the mystical. Her art reflects the spiritual belief that the physical world is in dialogue with supernal realms. People, nature, and all of creation are ultimately unified at the soul level, with our actions resonating healing, blessings, and Divine energies into this shared world.
